Abstract The vibration characteristics of two types of linked structure between outer shell and inner shell of double stiffened cylindrical shells, namely annular plates and splints are studied. The annular plates’ vibration is treated as both extensional and bending vibration, as only extensional vibration and as only radial vibration respectively. The splints’ vibration is treated as extensional vibration, as only radial vibration and as pole’s vibration respectively. The comparison of each structure type’s three methods shows that different methods have different precision. The conclusion that the splints linked double shells have similar sound radiation with the annular plate’s connected ones when the there is no space between each splint in the circumferential direction is discussed.
